Tell us something about you that fans should know:
Synthoid Sounds is an incubator of tracks and compositions spawned from my ever evolving synth lab . . .
Music and soundscapes are a lens through which to observe and feel the universe we live in.
Many of these tracks describe a story or scenario, a series of vignettes to render musical mood and ambiance during a momentary excursion into a virtual world, in a parallel universe.
Often these tracks are combined with procedurally generated and evolved digital art, grown with various AI, genetic and fractal algorithms, a visual glimpse into that virtual world.
For many years, seemingly endless hours were devoted to designing and building my synth engines (formerly an engineer with one of the Lucas Films spinoffs). Now seemingly endless hours are spent creating presets, soundscapes and compositions, being spawned from the incubator.
Back in those primordial times, I had been with various bands and projects, recorded some of this with Stewart Copeland (that's a long story), there's even a vinyl record lurking about out there (something of a collector item these days). Now, I can focus entirely on hatching my current material.
Where are you from and what’s the music scene like there?
Sebastopol, CA (formerly at Berkeley for many years).
Things have been a bit dormant during the COVID, but starting to slowly come back to life, like a tentatively germinating seedling gradually poking up out of the soil after a long drought.
